Joshua L. Jones, 40, of 109 Tower Drive, Danville, died Friday afternoon, September 4, 2015, on State Route 54, Derry Twp, Montour Co., as a result of a motorcycle accident. Born July 27, 1975 in Williamsport, the son of Mary Ann (Haldeman) Miller, Ozark, AL and Ralph F. Jones and wife Betsy, Stillwater, PA.
Joshua resided at his present address for the past 12 years. He was a 1993 graduate of Jersey Shore High School, and attended Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, in the welding program. He was employed as a welder at Hoffman's Machine Shop, Milton, and was the owner of Jonesy's Sub Shack, Danville, and was previously a welding teacher at Triangle Tech, Sunbury.
Joshua was baptized at Bloomsburg Southern Baptist Church in 2007. He was a born again Christian, and knew Christ as his Savior. His favorite verse is Ephesians 6:10-17. He loved spending time with friends, family, and his wife, Lorie. Joshua loved camping and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and adored all of his pets and loved watching movies and listening to music.
Joshua had an amazing love for his country and served in the U.S. Army and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for a total of eight years.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ron Miller.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, the former Lorie A. Lanning, whom he married October 8, 2005; a son, Austin Christopher Jones, two stepsons, Thomas J. Hippenstiel and Ryan L. Hippenstiel, all at home; two sisters, Jennifer, wife of Derick Herd,and Lila, wife of Greg Breyta, three brothers, Justin Jones, Jarrad Jones and Ira Jones, wife Louisa, paternal grandmother, Joan Harstead and maternal grandmother Cecilia Haldeman.
Memorial services will be Thursday September 10 at 6:00 pm in Bloomsburg Southern Baptist Church, 108 Welliver Drive, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Charles N. Chamberlain officiating. The family will receive friends at the church Thursday, 5:00-6:00pm.
