June A. Hartzell, age 88, 310 Market Street, Benton, died at 7:56 a. m. Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for three days.
Born in Orangeville on June 9, 1926, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Jennie (Davis) Bartholomew. She resided in Benton since 1997 and formerly at R. R. #2, Orangeville for 12 years and prior to that in Connecticut for over 30 years.
June was a 1944 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Jack Hartzell, on July 24, 2000; a sister, Ernestine Johns; and three brothers: William Bartholomew; Gary Bartholomew; and Calvin Bartholomew.
June is survived by two sons: James A. Hartzell, Middletown, Conn.. and John A. Hartzell, and his wife Maureen, East Haddon, Conn.; a daughter, Jennilou, wife of Douglas C. Davis, Benton; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Wilma, wife of Elmer Angus, Port Charlotte, Fla. and Pruella Beishline, Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Wilbur Bartholomew, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at a future date and will be announced by the family.
