June L. Hubatsek, age 87, 305 West Street, Bloomsburg, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, where she was a guest for six weeks.
Born in Rochester, New York on December 27, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Estelle Maretta (McMullen) Herzog. She resided in Bloomsburg for 10 years and previously lived in Denville, New Jersey for many years.
June was an Episcopalian.
She married her husband, Frank Hubatsek on February 12, 1949 and they had a long and happy life together until his death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Hubatsek in 2006.
June was a loving mother and grandmother to many. She had a gift for friendship and a love of life. She loved to throw a party and was always full of fun. She had a great appreciation for the arts, and was an accomplished painter and writer. She could read more books in a week than many do in a year, devouring fiction, history, mysteries, cookbooks, art and travel books, and especially books on England and her beloved Cornwall.
She is survived by two daughters: Mary, wife of John Saarman, Stanhope, N.J. and Julieanna, wife of Robin Jacoby, with whom she resided; two sons: Mark Hubatsek, and his wife Tracy Atkinson, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Andrew Hubatsek, and his wife Casandra Pisieczko, Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren: Ian Saarman, Jennifer Hubatsek, Stephen Luke Hubatsek, Bethany Ann Hubatsek, Natasha Elizabeth Hubatsek, Jason Dikens, Aaron Dikens, A.J. Dikens; seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Twila Herzog and her family, Rochester, N.Y.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
