Karen L. “Sis” Payne, age 77, of 39 Payne Lane, Nescopeck (Mifflin Township) went to be with her heavenly Father Sunday morning, February 19, 2023, at the Emmanuel Center For Nursing in Danville. Karen lived at Johnson’s Personal Care Home in Hobbie for several years before transferring to Maria Joseph Manor, Danville and last to Emmanuel Center.
Born in Mifflin Township on May 9, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Warren E. Payne, who died in 1972 and Ethel (Yeager) Payne who died in 2004. She grew up on the family farm in Hettlerville and later moved to Mifflinville to live with her mother and attended the Mifflinville Schools
Karen was employed at the former Mifflinville Knitting Mill and later the former Berwick Knitting Mill.
She attended the Berwick Bible Church for a number of years
Sis enjoyed three dogs as pets during her lifetime. She enjoyed mowing grass on a garden tractor, helping her mother with yardwork, eating out, visiting family and friends at picnics and holidays.
Sis will be missed by her brothers, Arlen Payne and his wife Eileen of Hettlerville and Terry Payne and his wife Glenda of Deming, New Mexico, an aunt, Maude Yeager and several cousins, nieces and nephews and a faithful family friend, Trudy Gearhart.
Private family services will be held at a later time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
