Karl H. Young

Karl H. Young, Jr., age 76, formerly of Catawissa, was called to his heavenly home early Saturday morning, September 3, 2022 at River Street Manor in Plains. He had resided in the Wilkes-Barre area for the last 30 years of his life.

Born on March 23, 1946 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Karl H. and Carrie (Derr) Young. He was a 1964 graduate of Southern Columbia High School. He also attended the York Academy of Arts. He enjoyed painting in his spare time and being with his family.

He enlisted in the United State Coast Guard in 1969. Due to an unforeseen permanent physical disability Karl was discharged from the Coast Guard and became permanently retired in 1972. During the time he was in the Coast Guard he served his country to the very best of his ability.

Karl was a member of Christ United Lutheran Church of Catawissa.

Surviving is his sister, Freda (Young) Vastine of Catawissa, three nephews and a niece, and six great-nieces and two great-nephews.

He was the best brother a girl could ever hope to have.

Private services will be held with internment in Hillside Cemetery, Catawissa. The family will provide flowers.
