Katheryn E. Nooney

Katheryn E. Nooney, age 80, 316 Hollow Road, Catawissa, died at 4:33 p. m. Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Geisinger Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, where she was a patient for five weeks. She was in failing health since February.

Born on May 22, 1938 in White Township, Indiana County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Ellen (Stiles) Vasbinder. She was a graduate of the Heilwood High School (now Penns Manor) in Indiana County in 1956. She resided in Catawissa Township for 20 years and previously lived in Bloomsburg for many years.

Katheryn was employed by First Columbia Bank & Trust Co., Bloomsburg, as a teller for a number of years, retiring in 1999.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church,. Slabtown, where she was involved in numerous church activities.  She  enjoyed  attending  the Catawissa Senior Center where she took part in many activities. She was an avid reader.

Katheryn was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Nooney, Jr., on November 23, 1978 and also by three brothers: Joseph Vasbinder, Edward Vasbinder, John Vasbinder, and a sister, Betty Nicewonger.

Surviving are three daughters: Kathy A., wife of David Fenstermacher, Elysburg; Susan C. and her wife Kathy McMinn, Rexmont; Mary E. Nooney, Hughesville; two grandsons: Allan W. Vandermark, Jr., and his wife Amy, Watsontown and William A. Vandermark, Atlanta, Ga.; a great-grandson, Oliver C. Vandermark; and three sisters: Mary Jane, wife of Michael Chichy, Comodore; Luella Vasbinder, Indiana and June Lamer, Warren, Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Slabtown, by Rev. Frances J. Karwacki, on Wednesday at 11 a. m. Private interment will be made in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Friends may call at the church from 10-11 a. m.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
