Kenneth W. Hittle, age 78, 111 Fir St., Orangeville, died at his home at 2:38 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, after a 27 year battle with Leukemia.

Born in Stillwater on October 17, 1931, he was a son of the late Oscar and Grace (Coleman) Hittle. He resided in Stony Brook since 2007, and formerly in the Stillwater area.

Ken worked as a car carrier with his own truck for over 34 years, retiring in 1990. He worked for M&G Convoy and later for Ryder Trucking. Earlier in life he worked at the Bloomsburg Mills, Inc.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Greenland and Korea during the Korean Conflict.

Ken was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Forks; Ft. Ricketts's Post 8317, VFW, Benton and Bardo Post 0564, American Legion, Millville. He was an avid golfer and he loved country music, westerns and spending time with his grandchildren. He was well-known for his generosity to his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife, the former Josephine Snyder, with whom he would have celebrated his 54th wedding anniversary on September 1, 2010; five children: Audie E. Hittle, wife Karina, Tyngsborough, Mass.; Lou Jean, wife of Mark Beishline, Orangeville; Monty D. Hittle, wife Cindy, Benton; Darby W. Hittle, wife Dawn, Clinton, Conn.; and Clinton D. Hittle, wife Elizabeth, Hookstown; eight grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and a brother, Oscar Hittle, wife Doris, Danville.

He was preceded in death by eight sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family with his pastor, Rev. Darryl E. Kensinger, officiating. Interment in Dodson Cemetery, Southdale. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Two And One Half St., Benton.
