Kenneth E. Kile, age 85, formerly of Old Town, Fla., died at 12:43 a. m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Bonham Nursing Center, Stillwater, where he was a guest for one and a half weeks. His death followed a lengthy illness.
Born on July 6, 1924 in Sugarloaf Township, he was a son of the late Guy E. and Grace A. (Everett) Kile. He resided in Florida for 20 years, returning to this area in April, 2009.
Ken was employed as a mechanic by the former Brown Chevrolet, Berwick, for over 40 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the Five Mountain Hunting Club and a Moose Lodge in Florida.
He enjoyed camping with family and friends as well as time spent with his family.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lena A. Kile on March 28, 2009; by two sons: Gary Kile and Roger L. Kile; by a brother, Guy J. Kile; and by two sisters: Isabelle K. Long and Roselyn Fahringer.
Surving are six children: Richard E. Kile, Stillwater; Janet M. Zagata, Shickshinny; Gordon L. Kile, and his wife Lori, Bloomsburg; Terry A. Kile, and his wife Lorrenna, Stillwater; Herman L. Kile, and his wife Pamela, Orleans, Ind.; Rebecca, wife of Mark Altman, Irmo, South Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Kile, Berwick; a sister, Iris Johnson, Bloomsburg; and a brother Ronald S. Kile, and his wife Mae, Pond Hill.
Memorial services will be held on Monday at 6 p. m. in Bethany United Methodist Church, corner of Pine Street and Summerhill Road, Berwick. There will be no viewing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
