Kitty  A.  Eves-Cain

Kitty A. Eves-Cain, age 65, 425 Bissetts Lane Bloomsburg, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at 12:05 a. m., surrounded by her family and loved ones. Kitty had battled esophageal cancer with courage and dignity since May of 2014.

She began her journey in life as Katherine Ann Duhon. Born in Beaumont, Texas on May 3, 1950,  and was raised by her maternal grandparents in Moselle, Miss., where was she valedictorian of her graduating class in 1967.

She began her professional career working for General Electric during the day and attending community college at night. Her determination and grit would take her far from where she began. In 1979, she moved to Bloomsburg with her husband and children.

She began her career in  real estate  in 1984 by working as an agent for Rothstein Real Estate and earned her Broker's license in 1987. Her career in real estate spanned 30 years.  From 1986 to 1996 she was employed by Masich and Dell Realty in Berwick as an associate broker and office manager. From 1996 to 2000 she was employed by the former Lutz Agency, Bloomsburg; from 2000 to 2005 she was the associate broker and office manager of the Coldwell Banker Fleck Agency; and from 2005 until she retired in 2014 she was employed by the Century Twenty One Covered Bridge Agency, Berwick. She will be remembered for her professionalism, her sense of humor and her tremendous spunk.

She was the wife of Martin D. Cain, Jr. Kitty and Marty met in 1997 and were married on December 13, 2006 in the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. In addition to her distinguished career in real estate, she assisted her husband, Marty, with the day to day operation of Statewide Furniture and three stands at the Bloomsburg Fair, where many of the other vendors became their closest friends  and strongest supporters.

Over the last 18 years, Kitty and Marty built a life together, blended their families, raised their children and watched with pride as their grandchildren became young adults. Holidays were always important to Kitty and she began family traditions that will continue in her honor. As the matriarch of  a large and extended family, she will be greatly missed.

In recent years, their extended family grew to include the residents of West View Ridge in Haines City, Florida, where Kitty and Marty spent the last five winters. The friendships that were made there were a source of great happiness to her. They would joyfully rejoin their friends each winter and it was with great sadness that she was unable to go this year. Her friends in Florida will remember her for her strength and determination to overcome life's trials, her love and devotion to her family and her incredible  work ethic.

In her spare time she dedicated herself to being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Her hobbies included reading, walking as much as five miles per day, and bragging endlessly about her granddaughters. Some of her favorite times were golfing with her husband and friends, having lunch with her daughters, and "yellow dot" shopping at Bon Ton.

Surviving in addition to her husband, are two daughters: Angela, wife of Denis Young and Melissa Spooner; two granddaughters: Katherine Anne Cerasoli and Elizabeth Marie Young, all of Bloomsburg; a step daughter, Lisa, and her husband Marc Greenspoon, Chesterfield, Va.;  and her two " favorite boys", step sons: Travis Cain, Denver, Colo. and Ryan Cain, Bloomsburg. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her dear friends that she loved like family: Dan Smith; Annemarie and Alexis Carl; and Darrin Carl, all of Bloomsburg.

A service in celebration of the life of Kitty will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with Chris Young, a family friend, presiding. There will be a visitation with family and friends from 9 - 11 a. m. The family will provide flowers.
