Larry L. Hopper

Larry L. Hopper, age 70, 346 W. Main St., Bloomsburg, died at his home at 10:59 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2010. He had been seriously ill for six months.

Born in Bloomsburg on February 20, 1940, he was a son of the late Irvin G. and Rene (Swigart) Hopper. He resided in Bloomsburg all his life.

Larry was a press operator at the former Magee Carpet Co., Bloomsburg for 17 years. He also worked at Data Com, Almedia for 13 years; for the State of Pennsylvania's HUD Program for over a year; and most recently in maintenance for Shiloh Bible Church for 13 years.

Larry was a member of Shiloh Bible Church. He enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader, and a Committee Member for Bloomsburg Midget Football. He also loved to hunt, fish, camp, water ski and play cards.

He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving is his wife, the former Joyce M Barnhart, with whom he would have celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary on July 2, 2010; three daughters: Susan R. Hopper, Bloomsburg; Kathy M., wife of Blaine Madara, Elysburg; and Bonnie Jo, wife of John Kelchner, Lewisburg; a son: Larry A. Hopper, wife Ronette, Bloomsburg; five grandchildren: Olivia Hopper, Nick Hopper, Sarah Kelchner, Aubrey Madara and Blaine Madara, Jr.; and his pet beagle, Jake.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and James Hopper.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. in Shiloh Bible Church, 120 Church St., Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon, officiating. Interment in Creveling Cemetery, Almedia. Friends may call on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, or Monday at the church from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to Shiloh Bible Church.
