Laura M. (Shultz) Hampton

Laura M. (Shultz) Hampton, age 79, formerly of Bloomsburg, passed away early Thursday January 26, 2023 at The Gardens At Millville, where she had resided since November 2014.

Born in Bloomsburg on April 21, 1943, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Violet M. (Brown) Shultz. She spent her lifetime in the Bloomsburg area and attended the Bloomsburg schools.

Earlier in her life she was employed at the former Berwick Cigar Factory for a number of years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Derl Hampton, on March 9, 1992; two daughters, Crystal R. Force, on July 23, 1980 and Patricia A. Force, on February 8, 2021; and a grandson, Gabriel on November 4 2017.

Surviving is a daughter, Peggy Sue Smedley, of Selinsgrove; two sons, Harry L. “Pepper” Smedley, and his wife Andrea, of Bloomsburg, and George A. Force, and his wife Alma, of Montgomery; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with Rev. Gordon E. Smith, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, officiating. Friends may call from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
