Lawrence E. âLarryâ McGovern, age 62, 80 Ridge Road, Catawissa and formerly of Riverside, died at his home early Wednesday, June 3, 2015 and was pronounced dead at 10:25 a. m. He was in failing health for the past month.
Born in Chester on August 22, 1952, he was a son of the late Francis P. and Madge (Cooper) McGovern. He resided in Riverside for 12 years until his recent illness when he moved to Catawissa. Earlier he resided in Wilkes-Barre for a number of years.
Larry was a 1970 graduate of Chester High School. His favorite pastime was fishing and he also enjoyed the times he spent with his grandson, Cayden.
He was until recently employed by Home Depot at their Buckhorn store, working there for 12 years as a sales person. Earlier he was in business constructing log homes.
Larry served with the US Army Reserves during the 1970s.
Surviving are five children: Olivia McGovern, wife Maura Barrett, Ann Arbor, Mich; Jillian, wife of Seth Ash, Berwick; Jonothan (correct) McGovern, and his wife Courtney, with whom he last resided; Kate McGovern and Lawrence McGovern, both of Upper Darby; a grandson, Cayden McGovern, at home; as well as five additional grandchildren in Upper Darby; a sister, Patsy Michelson, Morrisville, Vt.; and two brothers: Ronald McGovern, Wilmington, Del. and Francis McGovern, Eddystone.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. Viewing at the funeral home from 1-2 p. m. The family will provide flowers.
