Lawrence (Larry) Neach, age 94, of E. Park Street, Bloomsburg (Carroll Park) died on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital where he was a patient.
Born in Scranton on July 17, 1930, he was one of twelve children of the late John Nercz and Mary (Szmurkowski) Neach. He was a 1949 graduate of West Scranton High School. He resided in Bloomsburg for the past 61 years.
Larry was employed as a pharmaceutical salesman from the age of 18 until the age of 50 and he was employed by the Pennsylvania Auditor General’s office from 1980 to 1998. He was the tipstaff for the Columbia County Courts from 2000 to 2017. He also worked part-time for Rite Aid Pharmacy as a pharmacy assistant from 1999 to 2015,
A faithful member of St. Columba Catholic Church, he was one of the first group of 3 to serve as an Extraordinary Minister. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436 and was a social member of American Legion Post 273, American Legion.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by 11 siblings: Walter (Ann), Theodore (Virginia), Wanda (Andrew), John J., Jr., Richard (Agnes), Irene (Jack), Milton (Helen), Edmund, Arlene (Ted), Alphonse, and Rita (John).
Larry is survived by his wife, the former Carol Orzel, with whom he observed their 66th wedding anniversary on April 19, 2024; three sons: Larry H. Neach, Jr., at home; Mark Neach, Franklin, Tennessee; Gregory Neach of Bloomsburg; two grandsons: Kyle and Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to him as “Uncle Clarence”.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg by his pastor, Rev. Richard J. Mowery. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Viewing will be at the Church from 9:30 to 11 a. m.
