Leo E. Noll, age 86, 140 Nottingham Road, Bloomsburg (Sherwood Village) died at his home at 7 a. m. Monday, September 20, 2010. He was in failing health since January.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 20, 1924, he was a son of the late Edward and Laura (Zweibel) Noll. He resided in Bloomsburg since 1955 and previously lived in Danville for five years.
Leo was a 1942 graduate of Wyoming Seminary, Forty Fort; received his Batchelorâs degree from Villanova University and his Masterâs degree from Wilkes College.
He was employed by TRW, Corp. at their former Danville plant from 1951 to 1988 when he retired.
Leo was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. He also belonged to Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436, and was an avid golfer, belonging to Frosty Valley Country Club, Danville.
He served in the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theatre and also in the Korean War, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He was a member of Valley of Bloomsburg American Legion Post 273.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Bartek, with whom he celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary on July 14, 2010; a son, Robert E. Noll, and his wife Holly, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Ann M., wife of James McAvoy, Marcus Hook; five grandchildren; and several nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by two brothers: John Noll and Gilbert Noll.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, by his pastor, Rev. Paul R. Fisher. Interment will be made at the convenience of the family in St. Maryâs Cemetery, Hanover Township, Luzerne County.
Friends may call on Saturday from 9 - 10:30 a. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
