Linwood C. Lewis, age 88, 420 Shaffer Road, Bloomsburg and formerly of Clearwater, Florida died at 9:23 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Columbia-Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville. Previously he had been a guest at Loyalton At Bloomsburg for almost 3 years.

Born on February 15, 1922 in New Bedford, Mass., he was the only child of the late Charles L. and Ethel (Hampton) Lewis. Prior to moving to Bloomsburg 3 years ago, he resided in Clearwater, Florida for over 30 years and in Mattapoisett, Mass. earlier.

He was a 1940 graduate of New Bedford High School.

He was employed as a salesman by the Continnental Screw Company, New Bedford, Mass for many years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Congregational Church in Mattapoisett, Mass. and a life member of Star in the East Lodge, F&AM, New Bedford, Mass. He was an avid bridge player.

He served with the United States Army during World War II.

Preceding him in death was his wife, the former, Florence Hammond on May 20, 2007; a son, Jeffrey H. Lewis on February 26, 2003; a daughter, Marjorie Lewis in 1951 and a grandson, Steven H. Lewis in October 2008.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Sue Lewis, Bloomsburg, a grandson, Erick A. Lewis and his wife Nori, Deposit, N.Y. a grandaughter, Tracy E. Lewis, of Laurel, MD; two great grandsons, Jack L. Siesko and Trevor P. Siesko, both of Laurel, MD. He was the last of his immediate family.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment in Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet, Mass.

Arrangements have been intrusted to the care of the Dean W Kriner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 325 Market St. Bloomsburg.
