Louis Peter Foshay, 76, 11 Penn Brook Drive, Bloomsburg, died Sunday, September 17, 2017 at his home. He had been in failing health in recent years suffering from bronchial emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis and suffered a heart attack on August 22, 2017.

Born January 7, 1941 in Nyack, New York, he was the son of the late Adelbert "Bert" and Rose (Szeghy) Foshay. 

He was a 1959 graduate of Spring Valley Senior High School, Spring Valley, New York in addition to graduating with a diploma in Mechanical Drafting from International Correspondence Schools, Scranton, PA and a diploma in Electronic Repair from National Radio Institute, Washington D.C.

Upon a medical discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1960, he was employed as a machinist at William S. Doig, Inc. Haverstraw, New York prior to his owning his own electronic repair business, Sound Repairs in Pomona, New York where he resided prior to retirement to Millville in 1978. In 2004 he and his wife relocated to the Buckhorn area of Bloomsburg.

In prior years, he and his wife had participated in art and craft shows in the Northeastern Pennsylvania area and he had become known nationally for his woodcarvings. His woodcarvings had been featured in the national magazines, Woodcarving Illustrated and Chip Chats and locally in the Spectrum magazine and the Press Enterprise. In 2010 he had two articles printed in the Woodcarver's Guide to Sharpening, Tools and Setting up Shop book. Louis had always had an interest in music and his favorite past time had been enjoying playing on the violin, mountain dulcimer, Yamaha keyboard and the Lowrey organ.

Foshay is survived by his wife, the former Mary Madeline Cousins of Fairview, West Virginia and Pomona, New York. They were married on August 26, 1961 at the Central Presbyterian Church, Haverstraw, New York. He is the last of his immediate family.

There will be no viewing. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Dean W Kriner Inc Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, Burial will be in the Benefield Cemetery, Pumpkin Center, Fairview, West Virginia.
