LYNNE  F.  (Bauman) GREENLY

Loving mother, daughter, sister and active volunteer

Lynne F.  ( Bauman) Greenly, age 57, 417 W. Third St., Bloomsburg, died at 9:55 p. m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville, ending a courageous eight year battle with cancer. She was a long term brain tumor survivor until her cancer recurred in December, 2010.

She was born on May 28, 1953 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, a daughter of Daniel J. Bauman, Bloomsburg, and the late Dolores (Jones) Bauman, who died on April 23, 2010.

She spent her early life in Bloomsburg, later living in Odessa, Texas, Charleston, West Va., Meadville and Pittsburgh, before returning to Bloomsburg in 2004.

Lynne was a 1971 graduate of Bloomsburg High School where she was captain of the cheerleading squad, played field hockey and basket ball, and was the homecoming queen. She received a Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Bloomsburg State College in 1975, where she  was a cheerleader and member of Sigma, Sigma, Sigma sorority. She went on to obtain a Master's degree in counseling by attending Marywood University, Scranton, before graduating from Edinboro State College in 1982.  

She worked at various teaching jobs, including at  W. W. Evans Elementary School, Bloomsburg. She also did substitutring and tutoring in the education field, along with social work in Texas and held  various jobs in the Pittsburgh area. Her most rewarding job was staying home with her children after they were born and on through grade school and high school. Her children and family were her greatest joy in life.

Lynne was active in a cancer support group through Geisinger Medical Center and participated in several  "Relay's For Life"  with her sister and parents. Her volunteer work was just one way she showed what a giving and caring person she was. She was a volunteer for the  "Big Brothers, Big Sister's" program and also at Teays Valley Christian School in West Virginia; and at the Alzheimer's Unit of St. Claire Hospital, Pittsburg in memory of her mother-in-law, Nell Greenly. She also volunteered at the Janet Weis Childrens Hospital, Danville; the Columbia County Meals on Wheels program; and was a bedmaker at Maria Joseph Manor, Danville, along with her best friend, Cynthia Samuels.

She was a member of the St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg, where she  attended Bible study with a beautiful group of people and served as the librarian for St. Columba School.

Surviving in addition to her father, is a son, Matthew Greenly, McMurray; a daughter, Leah Greenly and Sean Mangan, Houston, Texas, and their father, Neil Greenly, McMurray. She has three siblings: Daniel J. Bauman, Jr., and his wife Gena, Scotia, N.Y.; Lee Ann, wife of Joseph Boiwka, Fairmount Springs; Howard Bauman, and his wife Cynthia, Lancaster.

Lynne was deeply loved by her nieces and nephews: Kristen (Bauman) Tedford, Brian Bauman, Nicholas Bauman,  Bradley Bauman, Angela Bauman, and Katlyn (Boiwka) McHenry; and her great-nieces,  Emma and Lauren Tedford and great-nephew, Jackson Tedford.

She is also survived by her father-in-law, Leon Greenly, Bloomsburg,  and two brother-in-laws, Sidney and Roger Greenly and their families.

In addition to her mother, she was  preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Mary Bauman and her maternal grandparents, Howard and Fae Jones.

Lynne touched many lives during her 57 years here on earth. She had such a gentle spirit  and was constantly caring and giving unconditionally to her family, friends and strangers. She was a true inspiration to everyone she touched.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, with Rev. Alfred Sceski, pastor of Queen of Most Only Rosary Church, Elysburg and family friend officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.

Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg. Chaplet of Mercy will be celebrated at 5:30 p. m.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to either St. Columba Catholic School and Library, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg or Columbia Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
