M. JOHN "JACK" ENT, JR.
M. John "Jack" Ent, Jr., age 88. 809 Country Club Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 6:10 p. m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Bloomsburg Hospital where he was a patient for 12 days. He was in failing health for several years.
Born in Bloomsburg on October 4, 1922, he was a son of the late Millard J., Sr. and Anna (Bauman) Ent. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1941.
Jack was last employed by Dent Plumbing & Heating, Inc., Lightstreet, retiring in 1987 after 10 years employment. Earlier he was employed by Lycoming Linen and the former North Branch Bus Co.
He was a member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Bloomsburg and attended his wife's church, Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg for many years.
Jack was a life member of the former Rescue Fire Co. and the Bloomsburg Fireman's Relief Association.
He served with the US Army during World War II and participated in the Normandy Invasion and saw other combat duty in Europe.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, the former Margaret L. "Butch" Miller on August 27, 2009; by a brother, Donald Ent; and by two sisters: Jean Bitler and an infant.
Surviving are two sisters: Beverly E. Lee and Florence Sneidman, both of Bloomsburg; two nephews: Jon J. Lee, and his wife Amanda, Bloomsburg and Brian Bitler, Northumberland; and a niece, Jayne, wife of Mark Buhl, Berwick.
Also surviving is his caregiver and special friend, Shelby Snyder, Bloomsburg.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Lightstrreet "Highland" Cemetery with his pastor, Rev. Stehen D. Engelhardt officiating. Military honors will be provided by the combined VFW group. There will be no calling hours.
