M. Olive Dieffenbach, age 95, 3336 Stone House Court, Bethlehem, died at 7:15 p. m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Old Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Easton, where she was a patient since March, 2009.

Born in Huntington Township, Luzerne County on September 19, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Enoch A. and Rosa A. (Hoyt) Dohl.. She spent her early years in Cambra and later lived in Doylestown for many years. She moved to rural Stillwater in 1971 and resided there until 1995 when she moved to Shickshiny. In 2006 moved to Bethlehem to live with her granddaughter, Donna, wife of William Cary.

Olive was graduate of the former Huntington Mills High School in 1931.

She was employed as a secretary at Huntington Mills High School and later at Northwest High School for a total of eight years. While living in Bucks County, she was employed by the Bucks County Association for Retarded Children for 11 years, retiring in 1969.

Olive was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Over 50 Club and the Hobby Club. She also sang in the Church choir for many years and served as president of the Town Hill Choristers for a number of years. She headed the Church music committee for several years after the new Church was built.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Earl Dieffenbach on November 7, 1994; by a daughter, Ruth O. Sutliff on April 26, 2006; by a sister, Ruth A. Dohl; and by three brothers: J. Paul Dohl; Rush Dohl; and Karl Dohl.

Surviving are a son, Roy E. Dieffenbach, and his wife Magdalina, Stillwater; a son-in-law, W. Dana Sutliff, Hunlock Creek; four grandchildren, including Donna Cary; and eight great grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a. m. in the Town Hill United Methjodist Church, 417 Town Hill Road, Shickshiny, with Rev. Calvin L. Miller, pastor of the Benton United Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Cambra Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Church on Tuesday from 10-11 a. m.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent to the Town Hill United Methodist Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton.
