Mabel L. (Swank) Remick
Mabel L. (Swank) Remick, age 94, formerly of 75 W. Cedar Street, Orangeville (Stony Brook Circle) died at 11:30 p. m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Orangeville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Orangeville, where she resided for one year.
Born in Danville on October 7, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Albert N. and Esther (Kent) Swank. Her early life was spent in Danville and she moved to Bloomsburg in 1980.
Mabel was employed as a dietary supervisor at Danville State Hospital for thirty years, retiring in 1980.
She enjoyed playing bingo years ago and more recently she played cards with her family, especially liked playing poker.
Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Harry G. Remick on October 29, 1984; by two grandsons: Monty Thomas and Janaka Carl; and five siblings.
Surviving are four daughters: Joanie L. Pursel; Doris M. Young, both of Bloomsburg; Donna K. Boyer, Watsontown; Millie C., wife of Marion Thomas, Bloomsburg; three sons: Harry Remick, and his companion, Evelyn, West Valley City, Utah; George B. Remick, and his wife Ellen, Danville; Gerald D. Remick, and his wife Mary Ann, Scott Run; 26 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise M. Barnhart, Danville.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Gretchen M. Johanson, retired Lutheran pastor officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.
