Madeleine Y. Fleetwood

Madeleine Y. Fleetwood, age 94, 152 Colonial Avenue, Bloomsburg and formerly of Bradenton, Florida, died at her home at 5:34 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2009. She was in failing health for one year.
Born in Ivy, Madison County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Robert O and Pansy Mae (Briggs) Young. She resided in Bradenton, Florida for many years until moving to the Bloomsburg area in 2004.
Madeleine was a graduate of Mars Hill High School, Mars Hill, N.C. and she received her bachelors degree from Carson Newman College in Tennessee and her master's degree from East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C. She was a school teacher for many years, beginning her career as a home economics teacher before becoming an elementary teacher. She was last employed by the Manatee County Schools in Florida.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bradenton, Fla. and the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R) Chapter in Manatee County, Fla.
Madeleine was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Barrow T. Fleetwood on October 16, 2007.
Surviving are twin sons: B. Stewart Fleetwood, and his wife Patricia, Bradenton, Fla and Stephen T. Fleetwood, D.D.S., and his wife Mildred "Millie", with whom she last resided; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandaughters; a sister, Eloise, wife of Ralph Armstrong, West Asheville, N.C. and a brother, Gerald Young, and his wife Alda Jean, Mars Hills, N.C.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2 P.M. in the Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 7626 Highway 213, Mars Hill, N.C. Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Interment in the Young family cemetery, Mars Hill.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St. Bloomsburg.
