Madelyn A. Yount, age 83, 1211 Franklin Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, Plains Township, Luzerne County after a brief illness.
Born in Pittston on May 26, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Melina (Farina) Orgie. A 1948 graduate of West Pittston High School, she had resided in Bloomsburg for 40 years.
Madelyn was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg and of the Women of the Moose Chapter. She enjoyed playing bingo and visiting Ocean City, Md.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade D. Yount, Sr. on March 23, 1997.
Surviving are two children: Rebecca A., wife of Michael P. Broetsky and Wade D. Yount, Jr., all of Bloomsburg; five grandchildren; a great grandson; and sister, Lorraine, wife of Walter Pastusak, Bloomsburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence officiating. Entombment in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg. Christian wake services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
