Marc Alan Strauch, age 80, of Everett St., Benton, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday afternoon, August 19, 2022.
Born at the Bloomsburg Hospital on May 31, 1942, Marc or as he was fondly known “Uncle Marc” was the son of the late George Elmer and Betty (Hosler) Strauch. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Isaac and Hazel Strauch and Frank and Doris Hosler and his loving sister and best friend, Lynn Ellen Shaw.
A 1960 graduate of Benton High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Army following high school and served his country with honor for three years as a heavy equipment operator in France and California.
Following his military service, he was employed by Firestone Tire Co. for 35 years in California, Georgia and North Carolina retiring in 1999. He returned to his hometown where he assisted his niece, Dena Snyder, in her business.
Marc is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Ida (Graham) Strauch; two sons, Marc and Aric, nieces Dena (Ritter) Snyder and Rebecca (Shaw) Wandell; a granddaughter Holden Strauch; a great- nephew, Isaac Whitenight and great-nieces Sabre (Whitenight) Williams, Rachel and Lily Whitenight. He was a mentor and surrogate father to Justin Faulstick.
Marc traveled extensively through the United States with his wife Ida. He loved to fly fish, search for arrowheads and to grow unique flowers. Everywhere he went he made a special effort to make everyone’s day, he will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 3 p. m. at the Benton Fish Hatchery, 45 Shannon Hill Road, Benton (Next to the VFW).
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
