Margaret K. Deeter

Margaret K. (Williams) Deeter, age 98, formerly of Catawissa, died at 10:10 p. m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Emmanuel Center For Nursing in Danville, where she was a guest since February 27, 2017.

Born in Roaring Creek Township on February 12, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Harold "Harry" and Myrtle (Wagner) Williams. She spent her entire lifetime in the Catawissa area.

Margaret was a graduate of the former Ja Mel Beauty School and operated a beauty shop in her home for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She also worked at the former Bloom Mills, Inc. and at Milco  Industries, Inc.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Catawissa her entire life. She also was a member of the former Catawese Chapter, Order of Eastern Star and the Susque Country Squares in Mifflinville.

Margaret was musically inclined and at one time had her own band, the "Sunshine Pals", playing at local carnivals and also for square dancing. Her hobby was knitting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kimber W. Deeter, on June 17, 1993; by two sons: Hayden J. Thomas and Duane Deeter; a grandson, Jeffrey Thomas; two sisters: Ruth Malefyt and Doris Warn-Emick; two brothers: Wayne Williams and Kenneth D. Williams; and a daughter in law, Joan E. Deeter.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Rhona, wife of Larry Wintersteen, Catawissa; a son, Errol W. Deeter, Catawissa; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Edna Derrick; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Friends may remember Margaret with a contribution to the First United Methodist Church, 228 South Street, Catawissa, PA 17820.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
