Margaret J. Franklin, age 92, 311 Center Street, Danville, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 in Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville, where she had resided for the last month. She was in failing health for several years.
Born at Southdale in Huntington Twp., Luzerne County on May 17, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Amos and Helen (Phillips) Franklin. Margaret was a 1939 graduate of the former Huntington Mills High School and a May 1951 graduate of the former Geisinger Hospital School of Nursing. She received her B.S. in Nursing from Wilkes College. She had resided in the Danville area since 1948.
Margaret was a registered nurse, and from 1951 to 1987 she served on the faculty of Geisinger Medical Center Nursing School.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Danville; and the Geisinger School of Nursing Alumni Association.
Surviving is a brother, Robert E. Franklin, Orangeville; a sister, Sarah E. Weiser, Mt. Joy; a niece, Daphne Greenawalt, Elizabethtown; and two great nieces, twins Sarena Berish, Camp Hill and Deanna Crawford, San Jose, Cal.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 5 in Trinity United Methodist Church, 306 Lombard Avenue, Danville, with pastor, Rev. C. Rayvon Hilliard officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Dodson Cemetery, Huntington Township, Luzerne County, PA.
