Margaret J. "Margie" Kressler

Margaret J. “Margie” Kressler, age 89. Of 3452 First Street, Bloomsburg (Almedia) died at the Bloomsburg Care & Rehabilitation Center on Saturday morning, January 23, 2021.

Born in Danville on October 28, 1931, she was a daughter of the late William S. “Ottie” and Mary E. (Lamberson) Linker. Her early life was spent in Danville where she was a 1949 graduate of Danville High School.

Margie was employed at Danville State Hospital as a medical secretary for 17 years. She then was employed at the former Liberty Chevrolet-Cadillac dealership for 17 years as a bookkeeper before retiring.

She was an active member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Bloomsburg where she served as a secretary, financial secretary, treasurer, trustee, Sunday school teacher and youth fellowship leader along with her late husband Wellie.

Margie served on the board of directors of the Columbia County United Way, as judge of election in Scott Township and as a notary public. She also was a registered medical record librarian.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Whelan P. “Wellie” Kressler on Nov. 2, 2017, by a brother William Linker and a sister Patsy Lou Herrold.

Surviving is her daughter Laurie A. Kressler who resided with her.

Funeral services will be on Thursday at 2 p. m. in Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 101 E. Fifth Street, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Margie M. McCarty officiating. Interment will follow in Elan Memorial Park at Lime Ridge. Friends may call at the Church from 1:30 to 2 p. m.
