Margaret L. Steege, age 92, 1095 Elk Grove Road, Benton, died unexpectedly at her home and was pronounced dead at 2:42 p. m. Sunday, September 22, 2013.
Born in Austin, Minn. She was the 13th child and last surviving of 15 children born to the late Phillip and Mary (Hessler) Lembrick. She resided in Sugarloaf Township since 1969 and formerly lived in Vienna and Mclean, Virginia areas.
Margaret was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Central. She also was active in the North Mountain Fire Company and Auxiliary and many other activities in the Central - Elk Grove area of Sugarloaf Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold M. Steege on March 21, 2001 and also by her only sibling to reside in this area, Ethel M. Johnsen on September 17, 1997.
Margaret is survived by two sons: Phillip E. Steege, and his wife Karen, Amherst, Va. and Bruce A. Steege, and his wife Colleen, Belize; a daughter, Maria L. Ely, who resided with her; two grandsons; one great-grandson; two great-granddaughters and three great-great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton, with her pastor, Rev. Howard W. Leh officiating. Interment in St. Gabrielâs Cemetery, Sugarloaf Township. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 p. m.
