Marguerite M. Foster, age 85, 2416 John Penn Circle, Bloomsburg, died at 2:15 a. m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Grandview Health Homes, Danville. She was in failing health since June.
Born on January 5, 1925 in Oakland, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Helene (Evans) Miller. Her step-mother was the late Dorothy Miller. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1980 and previously lived in Kingston.
Marguerite was employed as the executive director of the Columbia Montour Tourist Promotion Agency for 14 years, retiring in 1914.
A member of St. Paulâs Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg, she also was a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society.
At her home, she enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Foster, Sr., on January 8, 2006 and by two brothers: William Miller and Charles Miller.
Surviving are two sons: John Christian Foster, Jr., and his wife Joan, Harveys Lake and Jeffrey Thomas Foster, Newark, Maryland; three grandsons: Eric Foster, Bloomsburg, Christian Foster, Missoula, Montana, John C. Foster, III, Mechanicsburg; four great- grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Miller, and his wife Donna, Laguna Beach, Calif.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a. m. in St. Paulâs Episcopal Church, East Main & Iron Streets, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Rev. Canon Marjorie A. Menaul officiating. Interment will be made at the convenience of the family in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
Friends may call on Sunday from 3-5 p. m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
