Marjorie S. (Ent) Gillespie, age 86, of 1250 Fairview Avenue, Bloomsburg, died at 1:40 a.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Geisinger-Bloomsburg Health Care Center, Bloomsburg, where she was a resident for two and half weeks. She was in failing health for the past year.
Born in Bloomsburg on August 11, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Fred M. and Martha M. (Smith) Ent. She spent her entire life in Bloomsburg, and was a 1946 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
Marjorie was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg. She was a great cook and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, making crafts, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. âBoomerâ Gillespie on December 2, 2010, ending a marriage of 64 years; a grandson, Jonathan Gillespie; four sisters: Madelyn Bauman, Laura K. Kauffman, Winifred Bucher, Mary Louise Long; and a brother, Fred M. Ent, Jr.
Surviving are four sons: James P. âSpikeâ Gillespie, and his wife Joyce; Hervey A. Gillespie, and his wife Deborah; Peter J. Gillespie, and his wife Maryann, all of Bloomsburg; Joseph W. Gillespie, and his wife Aom, Thailand; a daughter, Marjorie A., wife of David Evans, New Tripoli; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Joanne A. Hess, Bloomsburg; and a number of nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, by Msgr. Robert E. Lawrence. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Visitation on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg.
