Marjorie B. Thomas, age 89, formerly of Riverside, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for five days.
Born in Orangeville on Nov. 20, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Clara F. (Shelhammer) Rupert. She was a 1939 graduate of the former Orangeville High School.
She resided in Riverside for 55 years and previously lived in Danville.
Marjorie was employed by the former Rea & Derrick Drug Store, Danville, as a clerk for many years until retiring in 1984.
A member of St. Paul's Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Danville for many years; she taught a Sunday school class for many years. She also belonged to the Danville Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Thomas on Nov. 1, 1999.
Surviving are three daughters: Gloria J., wife of Ralph E. Balliet, Olney, MD; Debra Freese, Riverside; Lori S., wife of John H. Harvey, Dallas; and a granddaughter, Jennifer M. and her husband Mark in California.
Funeral services will be heald on Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with the Rev. Edmund W. Minnich, retired United Methodist minister officiating. Private burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville on Friday.
