Marshall Clair Bratton, age 75, of 2453 Buchenhorst Road, State College, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2014 in Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient for 11 days.
Born in Lewistown on October 1, 1938, he was the son of the late Paul M. and Dorothy (Stuter) Bratton. A 1956 graduate of Lewistown High School and attendee of Penn State University, he resided in State College for most of his life.
Marshall was most recently employed part time in the seafood department of Giant Foods, State College. In earlier years he served as Vice President, director of security with Republic Security Bank, West Palm Beach, Fla.; and earlier worked for Mellon Bank and PNC Bank as manager of operations.
He was a member of St. Markâs Episcopal Church, Lewistown where he sang in the choir; and was recently attending St. Andrewâs Episcopal Church, State College. Marshall enjoyed hunting, fishing and sailing; and was a gifted horseback rider.
Surviving is his wife, the former Susan C. Wilson, with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage on November 20, 2013; a son, M. Scott Bratton, State College; a step-son, Daniel D. Schaeffer, wife Luz Mery; a step daughter, Tracy A. Schaeffer, wife of Tracy A. Dietrich, Covington, Ga.; six grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister and close confidant, Susie Ricker, Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.; and his best pal Casey, the familyâs Newfoundland dog.
Private services will be held by his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the family at 2453 Buchenhorst Road, State College, PA 16801.
