MARTHA G. MARTZ
Martha G. Martz, age 86, 2361 Third St., Bloomsburg (Espy) died at 10:45 a. m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011 at her home after being in failing health since July.
Born in Bloomsburg on March 20, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Mae (Beagle) Crawford. Her entire life was spent in the Bloomsburg area and she attended the former Scott Township High School.
Martha was employed as a secretary by Flick Brothers Electric, Almedia, for 18 years, retiring on Dec. 31, 1985.
She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Espy, where she sang in the choir for many years; assisted in the annual Easter egg project; and was a member of the Lutheran Church Women.
Martha was a former member of the Espy Civic Club and Bloomsburg Elkette's 436. She was a life member of the Espy Fire Co. , Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered for the Bloomsburg Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Charles G. Martz, whom she married on Sept. 15, 1941; two daughters: Donna Mae, wife of Angelo J. Esposito, Sayre and Judith Ann., wife of Sterling Aten, Berwick; two sons: Terry Charles Martz, and his wife Linda, Wilmington, Del. and Thomas Wilbur Martz, and his wife Gayle, Berwick; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and a sister, Mary McHenry, Bloomsburg.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Thelma Monroe, Ruth Southwick, Margaret Rockwell, and a brother, Ivan Crawford.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., Feb. 5, 2011, at 11 a. m. in St. John Lutheran Church, 2575 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg (Espy), with her pastor, Rev. Gordon E. Smith officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
The family will receive friends at the Church, from 10-11 a. m. Sat. Feb. 5, 2011. Flowers will be provided by the family and friends are asked to remember Martha by contributing to the Columbia Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg.
