Martha E. Sitler

Martha E. (Shaffer) Sitler, age 101, 457 Savage Hill Road, Orangeville, died peacefully at her home at 4:18 a. m. Thursday, August 20, 2020.

Born in Fishing Creek Township on July 7, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Oliver Hurley and Lulu M. (Umstead) Shaffer. She was a lifelong resident of Fishing Creek Township.

Martha was a 1937 graduate of the former Orangeville Vocational School. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and the Order of Eastern Star.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Derl W. Sitler, on August 1, 2000, a daughter Darlene J. Sitler, on December 2, 2012; by a son, Arden W. Sitler, on June 23, 2020 and by a brother, Julian Shaffer, on August 27, 2018.

Martha is survived by her son, Marlin L. Sitler, and his wife Lois, Orangeville; six grandchildren:  Mary Ann Rowen, Anchorage, AK, Susan, wife of Edward Baker, Boise, Idaho, Julie Sitler, Stillwater, David Sitler, South Mountain; Marlin L.  Sitler, Jr., and his wife Gina, Bloomsburg; Tiffany Sitler, wife of Jack Bogart, Stillwater; five great-grandchildren: Amanda Baker, Leanna Rowen, Sarah Eckroth, Hayden Bogart and Allanah Sitler. She was the last of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Benton, with her pastor, Mark Rowell, officiating. Interment in Zion Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township. Friends may call on Monday from 9-11 a. m.
