Martha M. Swisher, age 82, 126 Styer Road, Danville, went to be with her Lord at 5:16 a. m. Monday, May 27, 2013 with her family by her side, after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Cleveland Township, Columbia County on Sept. 5, 1930, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Victoria (Welkom) Haladay. She resided at her home in West Hemlock Township, Montour County for 60 years.
She was a devotyed and faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Danville.
Martha enjoyed all phases of country life, especially gardening, quilting and baking. An excellant seamstress, she assisted her daughter, Darlene in her custom drapery shop for 15 years.
She was preceded in death by five brothers: Joseph Haladay; Michael Haladay; John Haladay; Frank Haladay; Edward Haladay; and two sisters: Ann Lazicki and Cecelia Hess.
Martha is survived by her husband, Donald E. Swisher, with whom she celebrated her 64th wedding anniversary on February 21, 2013; five daughters: Darlene Stine, Danville; Linda, wife of Rusty Whitner, Fairplay, Colo.; Diane Campbell, Catawissa; Susan, wife of Steven Krum and Lisa, wife of David Gray, both of Danviulle; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers: Leo Haladay, Danville; Andrew Haladay, and his wife Delores, Berwick; Anthony Haladay, Danville; Albert Haladay, and his wife Jane, Sebring, Fla.; Robert Haladay, and his wife Jane, Bloomsburg; and a sister, Helen Biacchi, Berwick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a. m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 18 Center Street, Danville, by Rev. Tri Luong. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. There will be no calling hours.
Arrnagements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville.
