Martha J. Weidman, age 102, formerly of 50 First Street, Danville, died on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Grandview Health Homes, Mahoning Township, where she had been a resident for six years.
Born on Apr. 3, 1907 in Mahoning Township, Montour County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Effie I. (Diehl) Weidman. She resided in the Danville area her entire life.
Martha worked at the former Roslyn Yarn Company, Danville for 14 years, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of St. Paul's "Emanuel" United Methodist Church, Danville. Other memberships include Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1086, Harrisburg; Women of Moose Chapter 327, Harrisburg; the Golden Age Club; the Rambler's Club and both the Columbia-Montour and National branch of AARP.
Martha was preceded in death by a son, David A. Doran on July 8, 1994; grandson, Dennis E. Doran on Aug. 13, 1989; brother, Claude Weidman; and three sisters: Ruth Fausnaught, Laura Billheim and Fannie Stackhouse.
Surviving is a grandson, David A. Doran, Jr., Danville; daughter-in-law, June L. Doran, Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with her pastor, the Rev. Gregory L. Molter, officiating. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 a.m.
