Mary A. Artley, age 81, 138 Hoover Lane, Catawissa, died at 4 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2015 in Balanced Care at Bloomsburg, where she resided for three years. She was in failing health for many years.
Born in Danville on July 2, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer and Netta (Nungesser) Carper. She had lived in the Catawissa area since 1968.
Mary was last employed by Paper Magic in Elysburg, retiring in 1996. Formerly she worked for Hanover Brands, Bloomsburg and Roslyn Yarns, Danville.
Mary enjoyed square dancing, bingo, and her time spent at the Catawissa Senior Center; but especially loved to be with her family.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Moyer.
Surviving is her husband of 46 years, Hoover F. Artley, of Catawissa; six children: Sandra, wife of Rodney Snyder, Bloomsburg; Kimber Gross, wife Brenda, Shamokin Dam; Terry Gross, fiance Mandy Opie, Mainville; Barry Gross, wife Colleen; Pamela, wife of Danny Hayes; and Scott Artley, wife Linda, all of Catawissa; 12 grandchildren: Amy, Timothy, Lisa, Jillian, Rachel, Brianne, Amanda, Coty, Larry, Tara, Brooke and Brenda; 14 great grandchildren; and four siblings: John Carper, Danville; Roland Carper, wife Judy; Lester Carper, wife Donna; and Grace Phillips, all of Bloomsburg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Roaring Creek Valley United Methodist Church (Mt. Zion), 6 Orchard Drive, Catawissa, with Rev. Chadrick E. Carter officiating. Interment in Burket Cemetery, Tyrone at the convenience of the family.
