Mary S. Deitterick, age 91, 1073 Ridge Road, Orangeville (Bendertown) died at her home early Wednesday, November 16, 20 and was pronounced dead at 9 a.m.

Born on March 23, 1919 in White Haven, she was a daughter of the late George and Stella (Michnick) Swerdon. She resided in Fishingcreek Township since 1944. She attended a parochial school in White Haven.

Mary and her husband, George E. Deitterick, owned and operated a dairy farm near Bendertown where she enjoyed being a homemaker for their three daughters. He preceded her in death on March 24,1971. She was a good cook and an avid baker- baking many wedding cakes for family and close friends. She enjoyed quilting and over the years made many beautiful heirloom quilts for her family and friends.

She was an active member of the St. James United Church of Christ, Bendertown, where she belonged to the Woman's Guild and helped with many activities and suppers. She also was a life member of the Bloomingdale Willing Hands Quilting Club and a member of the former Women of the Moose Chapter in Bloomsburg.

Mary is survived by three daughters: Dorothy M. Deitterick and Jean A. Deitterick, both at home; Mary L. Markowski, Honesdale; two granddaughters: Dr. Laura, wife of Dr. Phillip Matz, Allentown and Katherine, wife of R. Zachary Bryant, Honesdale; four great-grandchildren: Whitney Matz, Nicholas Matz, Caleb Bryant, and Abraham Bryant. She was the last of her immediate family.

Private services for family and close friends will be held in St. James United Church of Christ, Bendertown, with her pastor, Rev. Darryl E. Kensinger officiating. Interment in St. James Cemetery. There will be no viewing.

The family will provide flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to the memorial fund of St. James United Church of Christ, 443 Zaner's Bridge Road, Stillwater, PA 17878.
