Mary E. (Enterline) Dietz, age 80, Spotsylvania, Va. and formerly of rural Danville (Rush Township) died at her home, Thursday afternoon, February 23, 2017 after a brief illness.
Born in Rush Township on April 14, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Jasper and Mary (Wentzel) Enterline. She was a 1954 graduate of Danville High School. She spent her entire life in Rush Township until moving to Virginia following the death of her husband of 59 years, Willard A. Dietz, on May 26, 2013.
She owned Dietz Fabric Store, Mill Street, Danville for many years. She was a talented seamstress, loved to knit and also was an artist. She accompanied her husband on many adventures in life, learning to fly an airplane when he did and also riding a motorcycle.
Surviving five children: Christene M. Sato, wife of Charles “Chuck” McGinty, with whom she resided in Spotsylvania; Willard L. Dietz, and his wife Tina, Blue Ridge, Va.; Daniel Lee Dietz, and his wife Carol, Damascus, Md.; Diane C., wife of Edward Clemens, Mohnton; Dennis Jon Dietz, Afton, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Violet Dressler, Riverside and Kathy, wife of Don Stadts, Nanticoke.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a. m. from the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with hospice chaplain, Rev. R. Christian Dunlap officiating. Entombment will take place at Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a. m.
