Mary Patricia Sands

Mary Patricia (Park) Sands, age 87, 640 Crestwood Drive, Bloomsburg, died unexpectedly at 6:37 a. m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 in the emergency room of the Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital where she was taken from her home.

Born in Bloomsburg on February 15, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Orrin James and Madalyn (McCloskey) Park. She was a resident of her home on Crestwood Drive since 1956.

Pat was a 1947 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and also attended the former Bloomsburg State Teachers College before attending and graduating from the Wheaton Business School in Williamsport, where she majored in accounting. She was employed as the business manager of the Overhead Door Co., Berwick, from 1977 until 1990 when she retired.

She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles R. Park.

Surviving is her husband, D. Richard Sands, with whom she celebrated her 65th wedding anniversary on June 7, 2017; four children: Richard J. Sands, and his wife Carolyn, Selinsgrove; Mary Suzanne, wife of Brent Seely, Bloomsburg; Joseph P. Sands, and his wife Lorie, Bloomsburg; Michael J. Sands, and his wife Christine, Wilmington, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.

A  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a. m. in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron Street, Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. There will be no viewing.
