Mary I. "Nubs" Simpson
Mary I. "Nubs" Simpson, age 83, 81 Pony Trail Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 3:45 p. m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at the Emmanuel Center for Nursing at Maria Joseph Manor, Danville, where she was a patient for seven months. She was in failing health for several years.
Born in Bloomsburg on July 31, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Jesse A. and Hazel C. (Leacock) Robbins. A life long resident of the Bloomsburg area, she graduated from Bloomsburg High School in 1947. She was employed by the former Moyer Pharmacy on Main Street, Bloomsburg for many years until the store was closed.
Mary was a member of the Buckhorn United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. She also was a member of the Bloomsburg Hospital Auxiliary and served on the Hemlock Township election board for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Simpson on May 6, 1993; by four brothers: Ronnie L. Robbins, Jesse A. Robbins, Jr., Donald E. Robbins and George H. Robbins; and by four sisters: Catherine M. McGaw, Irene Ivey, Virginia Fisher and Betty Reed.
Surviving are a daughter, Vicky A., wife of Mark Nunzio, Gold Canyon, Ariz.; a son, Joseph C. Simpson, at home; three sisters: Margaret C., wife of Robert Karlheim, Ocean Pines, Md.; Lavina "Sis", wife of Dale L. Ivey, Danville; P. Jane McHenry, Montgomery, Ala.; and a brother, Elmer C "Moe" Robbins, and his wife Cheryl, Bloomsburg. There are also a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Audrey M. Brosious officiating. Interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p. m.
