Mary Frances “Fran” Swisher, age 73, 423 Hollow Road, Catawissa, died at her home at 4:50 a. m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018 after an illness of two weeks.
Born in Bloomsburg on April 27, 1944, she was a daughter of the late James G, and Frances (Evans) Hunsinger. She was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg-Catawissa area and a 1962 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
Earlier in life she was employed by the former Bloom Mills, Inc.; Milco, Industries and also managed the former Stop & Go convenience store in Danville.
Fran was a member of the Ft. McClure Post 804, VFW, Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to read and enjoyed camping at the seashore and going claming.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Shirley Titman, Sarah Girton and Rose Newhart; and by two brothers: George Hunsinger and Lloyd “Butch” Hunsinger.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Charles D. Swisher; a son, Joseph Swisher, and his wife Brenda, Bloomsburg; a daughter, Julie Swisher, Danville; three grandchildren: Lacey Jo, Jordan and Damian Swisher; a great-grandson, Ethan Brown; two sisters: Hazel, wife of Gary Girton, Danville and Nancy, wife of Kenneth Newhart, Espy; two brothers: James Hunsinger, and his companion Jean Artley, Bloomsburg and Bruce Hunsinger, and his wife Donna, Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Combined services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. for Fran and her mother in law, Mary Swisher, who died on Sunday , in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. R. Christian Dunlap officiating. Interment will be in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Friends may call from 1-2 p. m.
