Mary M. Swisher

Mary M. (Shaffer) Swisher, age 88,  228 Dahl Road, Bloomsburg, died at 4:05 a. m. Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Bloomsburg Care & Rehabilitation, where she resided since April, 2016.

Born in Mt. Pleasant Township on June 7, 1929, she was a daughter of the late John and Florence (Crisman) Shaffer. She was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and a 1947 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.

Mary was employed by the former Magee Carpet Co. for over 25 years, last working in the Auto Fab Department.

She enjoyed playing Bingo, cooking, caring for her home and family and visiting the seashore. She also raised poodles.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles D. Swisher, on September 4, 2015 and by four brothers: Frank Shaffer, Fred Shaffer, Joe Shaffer, and Paul Shaffer.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Beaver, Bloomsburg; three sons: Charles D. Swisher, ,and his wife Mary "Fran", Catawissa; Robert F. "Bob" Swisher, at home; Ricky Lee Swisher, Bloomsburg; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She was the last of her immediate family and is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with the Rev. R. Christian Dunlap officiating. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy. Friends may call on Thursday from 1-2 p. m.
