Matthew L. "Matt" Pollock, age 45, 135 N. German St. Dushore and formerly of Benton, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2014 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, where he was a patient. Matt had been in failing health since being injured in an accidental fall six years ago.
Born in Bridgeport, Conn. on November 8, 1968, he was a son of the late Donald A. Sr. and Jean I (Stoker) Pollock. He moved to Benton in 1969 and was a 1986 graduate of Benton Area High School. He later resided in Bloomsburg and Stillwater before moving to Dushore two years ago.
Matt was employed by Del Monte Food Co., Lime Ridge for a number of years before his accident.
He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church, Benton.
Matt was an avid follower of Fox News, loved fishing and playing golf. In high school, he played soccer and baseball. An animal lover, he had a faithful dog, "Fat Boy Rudy".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Michael J. Pollock on Feb 17, 1978 and Donald A. Pollock, Jr. on May 22, 1988.
Surviving are eight siblings: Kevin P. Pollock, and his wife Amelia, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Kathleen E. Pickens and Patricia J. Record, both of Benton; Rev. James W. Pollock and his wife Patti, West Eaton, N.Y.; twins: Donna J. wife of Andy Work, Lopez and Brian F. Pollock, Benton; Mary E. wife of Thomas Dougher, Stillwater; Thomas M. Pollock, and his wife Trish, Liberty, Utah; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews who all loved their Uncle Matt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton, by his pastor, Rev. Timothy D. Marcoe. Interment will be in the Benton Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
