Michael A. "Hammy" Hampton
Michael A. "Hammy" Hampton, age 56, 500 Mowery Road, Danville, died at his home at 2:55 p. m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 after an illness of three months. He was known to his friends and co-workers as "Hammy" and to his family as "Mike".
Born in Mahoning Township, Montour County, at the Geisinger Medical Center, on April 16, 1958, he was the son of Shirley (Girton) Hampton, Danville.
He spent his entire life in the Danville area and attended Danville High School.
Hammy was employed by the Great Dane Trailer, Co., near Washingtonville and its predecessor, the Strick Corp., for a total of 20 years.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Hammy was preceded in death by his son, Adam Hampton in January, 2003.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are five brothers and sisters: Roger Hampton, and his wife Robin, Danville; Debra Stewart, Orangeville; Ida, wife of Danny Campbell, Berwick; James Hampton, and his wife Robyn, (Mainville) Bloomsburg; Sandra McCloy, Mill Hall; a number of nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; and one great-great niece and one great-great nephew.
A celebration of Mike's life will take place at a time and place to be announced by the family. There will be no viewing.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville.
