Michael E. Hamilton, age 58, 426 Ridge Drive, Danville, died at 7:25 a. m. Thursday, April 22, 2010 with his loving family and close friends by his side. His death came after a courageous 14 year struggle with Parkinson's disease.

Born on August 23, 1951 in Mahoning Township, Montour County, he was the son of Eugene M. and Clara (Franks) Hamilton of Bloomsburg.. He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area.

Mike attended the Wyoming Seminary, Forty Fort before graduating from Bloomsburg High School in 1969. He also attended and graduated from the National College of Business, Rapid City, South Dakota; the Wilkes-Barre Business College; and Penn State University.

He was the owner of Lutz Real Estate & Insurance Agency, Bloomsburg from 1981 until retiring recently.

Mike was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Bloomsburg; the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436; Washington Lodge #265, F & AM,; and Caldwell Consistory, all of Bloomsburg. He was a member and past president of the Frosty Valley Country Club, Danville; a past president and member of the Central Susquehanna Valley Board of Realtors; and a member of the advisory board of the former First Federal Savings & Loan Association.

An active member of the community , he served in many activities, including being a former United Way of Columbia County campaign chairman; the Bloomsburg Historic and Architectural Review Board (HARB); and was also a former board member of the Columbia Montour Council, Boy Scouts of America,

Mike was an avid golfer and sportsman. He loved to hunt and was recognized for achieving the Pennsylvania Grand Slam (harvesting a bear, deer and turkey in one season). His favorite place was the family retreat in Canada, Twin Oaks, where he loved to fish.

Surviving in addition to his parents is his wife, the former Barbara H. Wolff, whom he married on August 23, 2003; a daughter, Leigh Ann Hamilton, Danville; a step-son, Steven J. Krum, at home; two sisters: Kathryn H., wife of Joseph G. Reidel, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; Ann E., wife of William "Bill" McLaughlin, Bloomsburg; five nephews and nieces: Jason Reidel, Christina Fann, Jordan Rawlins, Justin Rawlins, Devin McLaughlin; and two cousins: Justine Lang and Mike Lang.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 7 p. m. in the Dean W. Kriner, Inc., Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 325 Market Street, Bloomsburg, with his pastor, Rev. Marjorie A. Menaul officiating. Friends will be received by the family from 5-7 p. m.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may be sent in Mike's honor to the Central Susquehanna Valley Chapter, American Parkinson's Disease Association, 2 Rehab Lane, Danville, PA 17821.
