MILDRED A. PHILLIPS
Mildred A. Phillips, age 85, 74 Luther Place, Lewistown, died on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown where she was a guest for 10 months.
Born in Riverside, Northumberland County on May 31, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Gordon W. and Esther M. (Bryer) Romig. She resided in Lewistown for 26 years; New Jersey for 25 years and spent her early life in the Danville/Riverside area.
Mildred attended elementary school in Riverside and was a 1944 graduate of Danville High School.
She was employed as a secretary in the Kingwood Township Schools, Frenchtown, New Jersey, retiring in 1976. Earlier she was employed by Geisinger Medical Center, Danville in various jobs from 1942 to 1952.
Mildred was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown where she was a member of the Augsburg Sunday school class. She was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed nature.
Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Phillips, with whom she celebrated 64 years of marriage on May 27, 2011; a daughter, Constance Ann, wife of Mark Jorgensen, Bimidji, Minn.; a son, Jeffrey Alan Phillips, and his wife Donna, McClure; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with her pastor, Rev. Gary A. Roth officiating. Interment in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11 a. m.
The family will provide flowers. Contributions may be sent to eith the Memorial Fund or the Building Fund of St. John's Lutheran Church 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, Pa 17044.
