Milton C. "Mit" Bennett, age 88, 139 Railroad St., Bloomsburg, died at 3:45 pm Tuesday, March 13,2012 at the Bloomsburg Health Care Center, where he was a patient since October 12,2011.
Born in Bloomsburg on Aug. 5,1923, he was a son of the late Frank H. and Bessie (Riegel) Bennett. He was a 1941 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
Mit was emplyed by the former T.R.W. plant in Danville as a machine operator for 34 years, retiring in Jan. 1986.
An active member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg, he served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mit enjoyed woodworking and was an amateur cabinet maker, constructing many items for his family and friends.
He and his wife, the former Goldie A. Forktus celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on May 25,2011. Also surviving are five sons: Curtis M. Bennett, and his wife Susan, Danville; Dennis E. Bennett, Lehigh Acres, FL; Christopher F. Bennett, Baltimore, Md.; Thomas E. Bennett, Danville; Gregory J. Bennett, and his wife Sandy, Bloomsburg; Six Grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Anne Bennett on Nov. 16, 1948 and by two sisters: Madeline Yost & Phyllis L. Moyle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri. at 2:30 pm in St. Columba Catholic Church by his pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.
