MYRON L. EISTER
Myron L. Eister, age 79, 50 Eister Loop, Danville, died at his home early Friday, Jasn. 20, 2012 and was pronounced dead at 7:28 a. m.. His death followed a lengthy illness.
Born in Shamokin on June 20, 1932, he was a son of the late Uriah B. and Jennie G. (Wolfgang) Eister. A 1950 graduate of Shamokin High School, he resided in Danville for 46 years.
Myron was last employed by Statesman Insurance Co. as an adjuster, retiring in 1990 after over 25 years with the company. Earlier he was employed first by the former Buckalew Chevrolet and then its successor, the former Hartzell Chrevrolet, both in Bloomsburg.
He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg, for over 52 years. Over the years he was involved with many activities at Wesley.
Myron was a founding member and life member of the Valley Township Fire Co. and a life member of the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge 436.
His hobby was building model airplanes, which he began doing at the age of 12 and also flying radio controlled airplanes. He was a member of the American Modelers Association.
Myron enjoyed time spent with his family and particularly enjoyed playing games with them, such as dominos and cards.
He was a US Navy veteran of service during the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, the former M. Louise Cummings, with he whom he celebrated his 56th wedding anniversary on October 1, 2011; two daughters: Susan, wife of Lee Janssen, Centennial, Colo. and Debra A., wife of Ted McCaffery, Danville; two grandsons: Ben McCaffery and Brandon McCaffrey, both of Danville; and a brother, Wayne Eister, and his wife Dot, Danville. There are also many nieces and nephews that survive.
Funeral service will be held on Wed. at 7 p. m. in the Roat-Kriner Funeral Home, 1715 Bloom Road, Danville, with his pastor, Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Friends will be received by the family from 6-7 p. m. Military honors will be provided by the Montour County Veterans Association.
