Myrtle C. Myers, age 91, 2231 Third Street, Bloomsburg (Espy) died at 10:24 p. m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Geisinger Bloomsburg Health Care Center where she was a patient for one week. Her death followed a brief illness.
Born in Bloomsburg on July 31, 1923, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Lillie M. (Carroll) Johnson. She was a lifelong resident of the Bloomsburg area and a 1941 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.
Myrtle was employed by Bob Johnson Co., Bloomsburg, as a secretary for over 40 years.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg.
Myrtle enjoyed playing pinochle and bingo with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert D. Myers on July 6, 2002; by a daughter, Nan Lynn Pursel on November 30, 2010; a brother, John Johnson; and two sisters: O'Dean Johnson and Hazel Hippensteel.
Myrtle is survived by a daughter, Christine A., wife of Robert L. Cromley, Watsontown; a son-in-law, Donald K. Pursel, Bloomsburg; four grandsons: John Tezik, Jarrod Tezik, Jeffrey Pursel and Barton Pursel; by seven great-granddaughters: Maura Tezik, Meghan Tezik, Torie Tezik, Amanda Pursel, Lauren Pursel, Haley Pursel and Harper Pursel; and by four brothers: Robert E. "Bob" Johnson and R. William Johnson, both of Bloomsburg; Harry Johnson, Catawissa, Thomas Johnson, and his wife Frances, Bloomsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing
