NANCY  E.  (LAYOS)  HEBBARD

Nancy E. (Layos) Hebbard, age 71, 437 East Hillcrest Drive, Bloomsburg, died at 6 a. m. Monday, October 4, 2010 at her home.

Born in Bloomsburg on February 4, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Paul R. and Mary Louise (Fritz) Layos. She resided in Main Township since 1971.

Nancy was a 1957 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and a 1959 graduate of the former Geisinger Hospital School of Nursing, Danville.

A registered nurse, she served with the U. S. Air Force from 1963 to 1965 with rank of First Lieutenant. She was employed at Geisinger Medical Center during the period when her husband was deployed to Vietnam.

An active member of the Shiloh Bible Church, Almedia, she served as the meal co-ordinator at the Church and also was involved with meals on wheels. She also did volunteer work for Columbia Montour Hospice and the American Red Cross.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a very concerned and caring friend to those who knew her.

Surviving are her husband, Stephen L. Hebbard, with whom she would have celebrated her 45th wedding anniversary on November 20th.; a daughter, Laurel K., wife of Charles D. Kane, Spencerport, New York; a son, Matthew S. Hebbard, and his wife Marcela, McAllen, Texas; three granddaughters: Emma Louise Kane, Rebecca Ruth Kane and Ana Elizabeth Hebbard; a brother, Joseph F. Layos, and his wife Susan, Boonesboro, Maryland; and a sister, Suzanne K., wife of John C. Brokernshire, Catawissa.

Public memorial services will be held on Saturday at 2 p. m. in Shiloh Bible Church, 123 Church St., Bloomsburg (Almedia) with her pastor, Rev. Dr. Douglas H. Lyon officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Emanuel Reformed Cemetery, Main Township. There will be no calling hours.

The family will provide flowers. Memorials may sent to the Columbia Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Bloomsburg, Pa 17815.
